Featuring over 100 artworks spanning from the late 19th century to present day, this dynamic presentation is the largest comprehensive survey of artwork depicting the global sport and its cultural impact. Strike Fast, Dance Lightly illuminates the connections between boxing and artists, and underscores the rich history of a centuries-old sport and its influence on artistic movements.

Gina Zycher: I Forgot Where I Was Going With This
Gina Zycher: I Forgot Where I Was Going With This - is a meditation on the artist’s relationship to anxiety through the medium of ceramic and surface design. Tally marks, Twombly-esque scribbles, dainty florals and x’s and o’s, are applied to the surface of handbuilt and wheel-thrown stoneware vessels using both porcelain inlay and hand painting with deep indigo glaze on white. These motifs and the titles of her work, including: I Can’t Wait to Leave, Cool Girl, Anxiety Sampler, and I Actually Like It, refer to life-experiences associated with being overwhelmed, and prone to overthinking and worry. While the work of creating her ceramics often acts as the antidote to such states of mind, the constant unpredictability of the medium presents its own complications and frustrations.

Panel Discussion / Norton Museum of Art
Join us at the Norton Museum of Art for a panel discussion about the intersections of boxing and art with fellow exhibition curators. The panel will feature Arden Sherman, Glenn W. and Cornelia T. A Picture A Minute / PAC LA
We are excited to invite you to a unique online event that celebrates the power of images and the art of storytelling. Inspired by Agnès Varda's groundbreaking 1980s television production "Une Minute pour Une Image", PAC LA presents "A Picture A Minute".

Accretion
Like the pearl that forms from the accretion of materials over time, the works in this exhibition contain the aggregated experiences of the artists—women living and working in the States but with roots in Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Guatemala, Mexico and Peru. However, unlike a pearl, their layers—comprised of earth, ceramic tiles, paint, photographs, stories, art history, and the artists’ own lives as material—neither are smooth nor conceal themselves. Weaving a rich tapestry of diverse perspectives, Accretion’s expressions of family bonds, immigration, labor and self-discovery draw attention to the intersected cultures, temporalities and histories that constitute the layers of being.
